All right, I know, it sounds dirty but it isn't. In the long hours of my Solo at camp I did alot of self searching. I don't like who I am in general. I can be rude, self centered, and just plain mean. I need to fix that, as well as the fact that I don't work nearly as hard as I should in school, or anywhere else for that matter. I am starting out by getting back into shape. I am working out everyday and it is one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done for myself.
I probably spent more time contemplating the world we live in... which wasn't a good idea. I'm about ready to go live on a desert island. I cannot stand how we (especially us americans) have no respect for anyone or anything around us. We run corrupt governments, take money away from the people's taxes the should go to school, and instead gets sent to the military. Instead of people who need welfare getting it, people abuse it because it is easier than actually working a job. It is sick. I hate it, I can't do anything about it. I am 16, what am I going to do, send a letter, write a petition? How many people listen to that, it'll get thrown in the "slush pile" along with every other letter along the same lines. We have no respect for the environment, other people, our world, or even ourselves. I am so frustrated, maybe I'm just a typical teenager being angry at the world, but I have reasons, and I wish I could do something about it other than sitting here, doing my community service, holding my protests, and writing my letters to the lunkheads in power...

you said it!
this world is very frustrating. though, you've just reminded me that im an adult now, perhaps i can do something to change this world for the better. but if you have something so say to those "lunkheads in power" to quote you, send letters, keep sending them until you get a response, they can't ignore you forever. so dont give up hope of a better world. =)
Cynicism
Dragon,
It is easy to feel this kind of dissulisionment with politics. America is not the only country with a messed up government - I'm from the UK, and often i often have reason to feel ashamed of my country, particularly following recent events in Iraq. Unfortunately i'm also rather cynical, i don't really think i can make much of a difference. i don't understand what motivates those in power, why they do the things they do...
