Does anyone have any suggestions for good movies in the Lesbian/Gay genre? I've already seen "But I'm a Cheerleader!" (one of the best movies EVER!!!), and I'd like more suggestions, please *spacey grin*

I love Hedwig!
Hedwig was such a wierd, but fabulous, movie!
kissing jessica stein
my fave line from my fave episode-->"you kissed me? in front of everbody?"~J. if you know what thats from, you get it, if not, your loss.
not even close. ill give you a clue, 'J' stands for Justin.
I happen to LOVE QAF, and i own both first and second seasons on DVD, the 3rd on tape(as i watched)and all 3 soundtracks, just so you know ;].
there's always the classic "Rocky Horror Picture Show" gees I love that movie...though it is rather strange...:giggles:
best movie ever!
definately! I loove that movie:-D
"Lilies" is a fantastic movie. It won a whole bunch of awards at either Cannes or Sundance (I can't remember which--hell, maybe both!) It's a French film, so be ready for that (instead of Hollywood), and it stars two of the most gorgeous boys with equally as gorgeous bodies you've ever seen. Yum! :-D
Some other favorites include:
* Edge of Seventeen
* Beautiful Thing
And even though it's not GAY gay, I really like "Billy Elliot" too. That's just a cute movie all around, with enough gay elements to keep even the bitterest of us old queens happy. :)
Some people's kids...I tell ya!
Hmm, most have been listed, but Frida is a damn good movie too.
Definitely a good choice. :-)
Chief Political Right Hand Woman to Ceo, Founder and First Member of The Movement to Free Oompa Loompa Land from the Tryanicall Capitalsitic Despot Willy Wonka
I was going to recommend that. Such a fabulous movie.... The dancing, the music, the women.... *sigh*
Lan Yu - heartwarming love story between a wealthy businessman and a young student behind the backdrop of mid-80's China
and since Fried Green Tomatoes counts, I'll also include The Color Purple (I cried, just a little)
Chief Lawyer for The Movement to Free Oompa Loompa Land from the Tyrannical Capitalistic Despot Willy Wonka
Yes, highly inappropriate to call it that, definitely a you had to be there story, anyway great great movie! "You sho iz ugly!"
I just saw The Hours, that was really good.
saw that, Im still confuselled....
I actually did a research project on Virgina Woolf a few months ago for school, so I knew her history and character pretty well going into the movie. It made it easier to watch, knowing her, and knowing the book "Mrs. Dallowy" a little.
...my favorite part of the movie was, quite honestly, the beginning: the voice-over you hear as she walks into the river is made up of VW's actual last note to Leonard. I thought it was poignant.
It also might be worth reading Cunningham's novel, to get a better sense of what the point(s) was(were). I loved the film, but it's really different from the book...
Special Envoy to Tea-Drinking Nations for The Movement To Free Oompa Loompa Land From The Tyrannical Rule Of The Evil Capitalistic Despot Willy Wonka And Associates
Fabulous movie! I'm actually listening to the soundtrack as I write this...
If you like foriegn films, Aimee & Jaguar is excellant. It's the true story of a nazi mother and a jewess who fall in love during WWII. Sad, but good.
Chasing Amy's an awesome film in it's own right, especially if you're into the Kevin Smith films.
I also have to second But I'm a Cheerleader. Funniest gay flik I've ever seen!
"The tube is civilization!" -Tycho
I'm sorry, I thought Aimee & Jaguar sucked. The book's better. The movie was cheeeeeesy.
Try another German film, Lola + Bilidikid. (Which I can't find anywhere in NYC, but perhaps I haven't been looking hard enough...)
I loooove Kevin Smith flicks, but "Chasing Amy" pissed me off...I dunno why...but...yeah...
The Wedding Banquet is a great movie. Absolutely hysterical, and even my dad who hates subtitled movies, loved this one. And it's not all subtitles, just some, as it's set in California with a white guy as one of the gay couple. Just bits and pieces in Chinese.
Get Real, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Better than Chocolate, Full Monty, Boys on the Side, But I'm A Cheerleader, The Children's Hour (1961), If These Walls Could Talk II, Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love, It's In The Water, Show Me Love (Swedish), are all great.
And why does The Wedding Banquet get the long description? Cuz I was lucky enough to catch the tail end of it the other day. LOL
Aimee and Jaguar
Boys Don't Cry
and that documentary of Ruth Ellis (the 100-year-old lesbian)
Lost and Delerious
why not lost and delerious?
The Election. It features a gay character, as well as being hilarious.
It has a sad ending.
