...seeing as my smoking post inspired a whole whirlwind, I may as well repost clarifying my thoughts as to why I call myself a smoker.
1) I am aware that as I become more and more tolerant, I will smoke more.
2) I've been a clear second-hand smoker for some time now. My whole life, actually. My grandparents, parents, friends, significant others.
3) The most important reason I consider myself a smoker is because I am definately not a non-smoker. What do you call a half smoker? A social smoker? That sounds lame. I make the deliberate choice to spend part of my income on a vice of my choice. I understand the health implications and chose this anyway. As for having the paraphenalia on me most of the time, I always had a lighter. (I didn't smoker but I could *clink clink* take care of the ladies that did). My purse, backpack, pocket will likely have a cigarette in it whether I smoke it that night or not.
4) I enjoy the act of smoking. I do not cough or feel uncomfortable while smoking. I can inhale it easily and pleasurably.

okay
You are a smoker. With a dropped casual/social modifier. File that under "l" for lame or "f" for factual. But only by virtue of frequency and quantity.
By sociological standards, you've already manifested secondary attributes, have adopted a smoking career, so to speak.
It really doesn't matter.
I'm going to shut up now.
