I had to read an article about gender for my Sociology discussion class tomorrow, and boy, I'm gonna have fun picking it apart in class. The jist of the article is that, while biology plays a certain role in a person's gender, the majority of it is built by society. Something mentioned as an extreme example of this was the case in which a baby boy was turned into a girl after a botched circumcision. The article quoted the writings of the primary doctor involved in the case, stating that it was a complete success...ha! It was the opposite, in fact. This poor person grew up as a "girl", but felt the whole time like something wasn't right, and now "she" is a happily married man. (He underwent surgery to reverse what had been done before.) I know this because I did some further research on my own, plus I remember reading about this case in my high school psychology class.

Anyways, It's amazing to me how incorrect and misleading the media can be a major percentage of the time...

I'd better go...it's dinner time. :)
